Hebei - South Holland Province: the 3rd International Water & Environment Conference, November 3rd 2011
The 1st International Water and Environment Congress was held in Hebei Province in 2007. In the year of 2009, Mrs. Lenie Dwarshuis, Vice-Governor of the Province of South Holland, led a delegation to Hebei and participated in the 2nd Congress. The themes of the last conference included: Urban Planning, Climate Change, Environmental Protection, Utilization & Protection of Water Resource, and Treatment of Pharmaceutical Wastewater.

- climate adaptation
- efficient water usage
- waterquality

 

Themes of the environment workshops:

- clean coal
- emissiereduction NOx
- environment, transportation and urban planning
- climate mitigation


 


This year's program will be jointly prepared by the water and environment departments of Hebei and South Holland Provinces.

Cleaner Yangtze water reaches more people today

More people in Shanghai has access to cleaner tap water today when a water plant in the Pudong district has its water source to the Qingcaosha Reservoir in the Yantze River this morning instead of having it from the Huangpu River. According to the Shanghai Water Authority The Linjiang Water Plant, which is the biggest waterworks in the Pudong New Area serves now more than 850.000 residents in Sanlin, Beicai, Zhoujiadu. Nammatou and Pujiang Areas.

At the moment 3.3. million cubic meters of water per day is being pumped from the Qingcaosha Water Reservoir to the homes of 6.6 million people across the city. From June 10 million residents should have acces to cleaner tap water from the Yangtze River, while meanwhile the Linqiao Water Plant in the Gaoqiao area of Pudong and the largest Changqiao Water Plant in Xuhui District will also join the network.
